Achievement of Telangana state is a testament to the determination and perseverance of Telangana activists, the CM said and praised AICC leader Sonia Gandhi for fulfilling the 60-year-old aspirations of Telangana people

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that Telangana Talli statue will be unveiled at the Secretariat on December 9 this year. The historic event will be organised on the lines of Million March which was conducted during the intensified Telangana movement.

Amidst chanting of vedic hymns by the priests, the Chief Minister performed Bhumi Puja for the installation of Telangana Talli statue at the Secretariat premises on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister said that the government planned to organise the Bhumi Puja in a grand manner but with the vedic scholars clarifying that there are no auspicious days for the puja till Dasara, the programme has been organised in a hurry on Wednesday, even in the absence of Deputy CM, who is on Kerala tour. Some other ministers were also absent as they are preoccupied with their officials programmes.

Achievement of Telangana state is a testament to the determination and perseverance of Telangana activists, the CM said and praised AICC leader Sonia Gandhi for fulfilling the 60-year-old aspirations of Telangana people.

The previous government presented Rs 22.50 lakh crore budget during its 10-year rule but failed to spend at least Rs 1 crore to install Telangana Talli statue in the Secretariat, he pointed out.

The CM reminded that the UPA government, led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, announced the initiation of the official process to the formation of Telangana on December 9, 2009. Since Sonia Gandhi's birthday falls on December 9, the government has decided to unveil the Telangana Talli statue on the same day this year, he said.

R&B Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, a few MLA, MLCs, MPs, Corporation chairmen and officials participated in the programme.
