Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka expressed satisfaction at the outcome of their meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Thursday. The leaders expressed optimism about increased cooperation between the Centre and the Telangana government following their meetings.
Addressing a joint press conference in Delhi, Revanth Reddy and Bhatti expressed confidence that these meetings would help in resolving long-pending issues concerning Telangana and hoped for a strong partnership with the Centre.
"I engage in politics only during the elections. Now that the elections are over, my primary focus is on governance and the development of the state. This visit to Delhi aims to secure the Centre's support for our welfare schemes and development programmes," said Revanth Reddy.
Regarding media speculation about the Congress high command deferring his Cabinet expansion plans and the appointment of a new TPCC chief, Revanth Reddy clarified, "The media speculated on these issues. We have not officially disclosed any information. I have requested the party high command to approve the Cabinet expansion and appoint a new TPCC chief. These matters are under active consideration, and I expect a decision soon."
Deputy CM Bhatti highlighted their representations to Modi and Shah, urging them to fulfil the promises made to Telangana in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
He criticised the previous BRS government for neglecting these issues, stating, "The previous government did not pursue these matters seriously, only sending token letters to the Centre occasionally."
The meetings mark a hopeful step towards addressing the developmental and governance needs of Telangana and also in achieving greater cooperation with the Centre, the Deputy Chief Minister said.
