Revanth Urges Centre to Speed up Approvals

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has sought expedited approvals and financial support from the Centre for several key infrastructure and development projects in Telangana.

He met Union ministers Nitin Gadkari (road transport and highways), Dharmendra Pradhan (education) and G. Kishan Reddy (coal and mines) in Delhi on Thursday and submitted detailed representations on projects crucial for the state’s progress.

The Chief Minister urged Gadkari to sanction immediate technical and financial clearances for the 159-km northern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR), declared as National Highway 161AA in 2017. He pointed out that 94 per cent of the required land had been acquired. He also sought approvals for the southern portion of the RRR, stressing its role in boosting industrial hubs, logistics parks, and recreational areas.

Reddy proposed the construction of a four-lane elevated corridor in the Amrabad forest area, part of the Hyderabad-Srisailam highway, to address vehicular restrictions due to environmental regulations. This corridor would reduce travel distance to Prakasam district by 45 km.

Further, he sought funds to expand the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway (NH-65) to six lanes, improving safety and reducing accidents. He also urged the construction of a bypass road on the southern side of Warangal and proposed ropeways at key tourist and religious sites under the Parvatmala Pariyojana scheme.

In his meeting with Kishan Reddy, the Chief Minister highlighted the approvals that are pending for projects totalling ₹1.63 lakh crore for Telangana. He requested assistance for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase 2 expansion, including 76.4 km of new corridors at an estimated cost of ₹24,269 crore and seeking a 50:50 funding model between the Central and state governments.

Reddy highlighted the need for central funds for the Musi River rejuvenation project and the Musi-Godavari water linkage, critical for Hyderabad's water security. He also proposed a comprehensive sewerage master plan for Hyderabad and Warangal, costing ₹17,212 crore and ₹4,170 crore, respectively, under the AMRUT 2 scheme.

The Chief Minister sought allocation of coal blocks in the Godavari valley in order to sustain operations at Singareni Collieries, which directly employs 43,000 people. Additionally, he urged the inclusion of Telangana in the Semiconductor Mission, citing Hyderabad’s robust infrastructure and skilled workforce.

In his meeting with Pradhan, Reddy requested allocation of Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) to Telangana. He also sought clarity on deemed university approvals, advocating mandatory state government no-objection certificates (NOCs).

Accompanying the Chief Minister were R&B minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, MPs and senior officials.
