Revanth Seeks CSR Funds For Edu, Health

Hyderabad:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged companies to allocate a large portion of their CSR funds for local development, as they benefit from good infrastructure where they operate.

During his meeting with corporate representatives at his residence in Jubilee Hills, the Chief Minister said nearly 44 per cent of the state’s student population is concentrated in the city and called for shared responsibility in providing quality education.

He said a principal secretary has been appointed to streamline CSR coordination and enable companies to channel funds into education, healthcare, water resources, skill development, heritage conservation and environmental protection.

Revanth Reddy appreciated commitments made by the Raheja Group and Ramky Group, which pledged `50 crore each, and the Yashoda Foundation, which committed Rs 10 crore towards education.

He said CSR spending should deliver measurable outcomes and reiterated that the government’s priority sectors are education, healthcare and water resource conservation, while allowing companies to support other areas of their choice.

The company representatives said they had not previously been approached in this manner on CSR utilisation and expressed interest in supporting school education, healthcare and heritage conservation.

Representatives from Raheja Foundation, Ramky Foundation, Yashoda Hospitals, Megha Group, Apollo Hospitals, Kamineni Hospitals, the Indian Green Building Council and NAADAM Foundation attended the meeting along with senior government officials.
