Revanth signs MoU for HCLTech expansion, AI datacentre cluster

Hyderabad: The state government has inked memoranda of understanding (MoUs) for the expansion of HCLTech operations in Hyderabad and for setting up AI datacentre cluster in Telangana. The MoUs were signed in the presence of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu during the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos on Wednesday.
The first MoU, signed with HCLTech, a leading global technology company, outlines the expansion of the company’s operations in Hyderabad. This partnership will see the launch of a new state-of-the-art technology centre that will provide cutting-edge cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital transformation solutions to global clients.
The new tech centre, situated in Hyderabad's Hitec City, spans 320,000 square feet and will house 5,000 employees. The facility, which comes with Gold Certification from the Indian Green Building Council, underscores HCLTech’s commitment to sustainable business practices and environmental responsibility.
HCLTech’s CEO and managing director C Vijayakumar expressed his enthusiasm for the new centre. “Hyderabad, with its world-class infrastructure and high-quality talent pool, has been a key location on HCLTech’s global network. The new centre will bring cutting-edge capabilities to our global client base and contribute to the local technology ecosystem,” he said. He invited Revanth Reddy and Sridhar Babu to inaugurate the centre next month.
Welcoming the expansion, the Chief Minister said that it reaffirms Hyderabad’s status as a global IT hub. "This new tech centre further consolidates Hyderabad's position as a leading IT destination and highlights its continued appeal to global IT companies," he said.
Sridhar Babu expressed happiness over HCLTech’s growth in the state, noting the government’s commitment to strengthening Hyderabad’s tech ecosystem. "We aim to expand this ecosystem to tier-2 and tier-3 cities to promote employment opportunities for local youth," he said, adding that he encouraged HCLTech to explore setting up another center in another city within Telangana.
HCLTech, which has been present in Hyderabad since 2007, now operates across five centers in the city, employing around 8,500 people.
The second MoU pertains to CtrlS Datacenters Ltd announcing plans to establish an advanced AI Datacenter Cluster in Telangana. This collaboration further strengthens the state’s position as a leader in digital infrastructure. The AI Datacenter Cluster, with an investment of `10,000 crores, will have a capacity of 400 MW and is expected to create around 3,600 direct and indirect jobs.
“This collaboration with CtrlS is a significant milestone in our journey to establish Telangana as a global leader in digital infrastructure and technology. The AI Datacenter Cluster will enhance our IT capabilities and create substantial employment opportunities, aligning with our vision of inclusive growth,” Sridhar Babu said.
Sharing his excitement about the venture, Sridhar Pinnapureddy, the founder and CEO of CtrlS Datacenters, said: “We are thrilled to collaborate with the government of Telangana to bring this transformative project to life. The AI Datacentre Cluster will set new benchmarks in innovation, sustainability, and digital infrastructure, and we are proud to contribute to Telangana’s growth story.”
The new AI Datacentre Cluster is expected to boost Telangana's economy, contributing through job creation and increased tax revenues.
