Revanth to mark his birthday with Musi yatra
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is set to embark on a six-kilometre-long padayatra along the Musi from Valigonda to Bibinagar in Yadadri district to highlight the pollution in the river on November 8, his 55th birthday and his first birthday as Chief Minister.
Revanth Reddy will begin the padayatra after offering prayers at the Yadadri temple.
The Chief Minister will arrive at Sangem village in Valigonda mandal, where he will commence the padayatra along with Bhongir MLA Kumbham Anil Kumar Reddy.
Following the walkathon, a foundation stone will be laid for a new pipeline project to supply fresh water from Mallannasagar to Yadadri district, which will reduce pollution that has impacted agriculture and livestock along the Musi’s banks. Alair MLA Beerla Ilaiya is overseeing the arrangements for the Chief Minister's visit to Yadadri and Musi.
The Chief Minister plans to restore the Musi with clean water from Mallannasagar and address the pressing needs of the local communities affected by pollution.
Sources said the padayatra would also serve as a counter to criticism from Opposition parties, particularly the BRS and the BJP, who have challenged the Congress government’s efforts to rejuvenate the Musi. Revanth Reddy has invited constructive suggestions from Opposition leaders on rejuvenation project, emphasising the collective responsibility of restoring the river to safeguard the health of people in Nalgonda district.
