Revanth wants Hyd to be free from the menace of dangling power cables

Hyderabad:In a bid to free the city the dangerously dangling power cables, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy highlighted his vision to lay underground power and other cables inside the ORR limits.

He asked energy sector officials to conduct a study of the most prudent policies being followed in other nations on maintaining under-ground power cables and submit a report.

After unveiling the clean and green energy policy of the state government, Reddy, along with Deputy Chief Minister and power minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, said that he wished for the best ground cable system in Hyderabad.

Stating that under-ground power cables would drastically reduce the power pilferage, avoid other problems like break-downs during the natural calamities, Reddy asked the officials to review all the models to lay all kinds of cables in the under-ground besides power cables to help Hyderabad boast of the perfect underground cable system.

Asking the power utilities to gear up for quality and uninterrupted power supply in the coming summer season, he urged them to make an advanced planning as per the expected power demand for agriculture and domestic needs in the coming summer season.

He wanted them to gear up for increased power demand within GHMC limits. Officials informed that the peak power demand in the last season has increased 15,623 megawatts last time and it is expected to reach 16,877 megawatts in the coming summer.

Calling upon power sector officials to conduct a comprehensive report along with forest and tribal welfare department officials, Reddy asked them to take measures to provide free solar power and solar pump sets in tribal hamlet areas by conducting a special drive.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to make arrangements to set up solar power plants on the top of government buildings and schools by duly identifying the companies which have been showing interest to entrust the works. The state must stood as role model in the country in renewable energy sector, he said

Revanth Reddy directed the officials to submit a report in inordinate delay in setting up a 400 KV sub-station at Parigi town, which was approved 10 years ago. Since the new building for the Osmania general hospital is to come up at Goshamahal grounds, Reddy asked the officials to take steps to shift the existing substation near Goshamahal stadium and construct a new one with modern technology and additional capacity.

Excise minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari, government adviser Srinivasa Raju, special principal secretary (finance) Ramakrishna Rao, CMDs Sandeep Sultania (Genco), Krishna Bhaskar (Transco) Musharraf Ali Faruqui (southern discom), Varun Reddy (northern discom) Balram Naik (SCCL), and TGRedco managing director Anila Vavilala participated in the meeting.
