Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has decided to undertake weekly tours to districts to personally oversee the implementation of various government schemes and development projects. The schedule for these district tours will be released soon.
Revanth Reddy said his visits would focus on direct interaction with the people to understand their needs and assess on-ground realities through surprise visits and inspections.
Announcing his decision on weekly district tours during a meeting with all secretaries at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the Chief Minister laid out his vision for transforming Telangana into a model state through innovative governance and proactive fieldwork.
He asked officials to embrace innovative ideas, which are beneficial to the public. Each officer was tasked with submitting a flagship idea to the government within two weeks.
To ensure effective governance, Revanth Reddy mandated that secretary-level IAS officers conduct weekly field trips to districts, moving beyond their office confines to monitor departmental performance. He also instructed them to hold monthly meetings with senior district officials to review ongoing projects and departmental progress.
Highlighting his dissatisfaction with some district collectors' lack of field engagement, the Chief Minister directed them to visit hospitals, Anganwadi centres, schools, and other government service departments regularly. He instructed IAS officials of all departments, urging them to align their work with the government's priorities and be accountable to the people.
Emphasising the need for accountability, Revanth Reddy directed IAS officers to take charge of their respective departments and divisions comprehensively. He called for responsible governance that prioritises public interest and involves all officials working together to deliver good governance. The CM highlighted the importance of making Telangana a benchmark for other states in the country.
Recognising the experience of officers who have served under multiple Chief Ministers, Revanth asked them to identify the government's priorities and perform their duties with a commitment to public welfare and state development. He stressed that the collective efforts of all officials would earn the government a good reputation.
