Revanth Wraps His 2-Nation Tour With Seoul Riverfront Visit

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and his entourage visited the Cheonggyecheon river in Seoul to gather insights for the development of Musi Riverfront project in Hyderabad and wrapped up their 11-day tour of the US and South Korea. They will return to Hyderabad on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister accompanied by his ministerial colleagues and senior officials started their two-nation tour on August 3 and met leadership teams of global companies seeking investments in Telangana.

The Cheonggyecheon is a 10.9-km- long natural stream in Seoul. After the Second World War, it was converted into an elevated expressway. In 2003, the Korea government dismantled the road to revive the Cheonggyecheon into a world-class urban riverfront.

The Chief Minister and his delegation’s visit to the Cheonggyecheon riverfront was intended to take lessons from the project and apply them to the Musi riverfront development project in Hyderabad. Today, it stands as a symbol of urban renewal, attracting around 19 million tourists annually.

Revanth Reddy closely observed various aspects of Cheonggyecheon’s revival, expressing his admiration for the project’s success. He noted that the transformation of the river had provided him with valuable ideas that could be implemented in the ongoing efforts to revitalise the Musi River in Hyderabad.

“The Cheonggyecheon River’s journey from a polluted waterway to a beautiful urban area is truly inspiring. It has given us many ideas for improving the ecological and visual appeal of the Musi river,” Revanth Reddy stated.

He noted that these observations would play a crucial role in planning projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Hyderabad’s residents while also boosting tourism in the region.

During his US tour, the Chief Minister's delegation participated in 50 business meetings, three roundtable meetings and field visits. They inked 19 deals, totalling investments of Rs 31,500 crore and creating 30,750 new jobs. The delegation toured Seoul for two days on August 12 and 13 and held meetings with top officials of Hyundai Motor Company and 25 other textile companies.
