Revenue Minister Ponguleti Calls for Efforts to Deliver Welfare Benefits
Bhadadri-Kothagudem: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Tuesday urged elected representatives and officials to work in coordination to reach the benefits of welfare schemes to people.
Holding a review meeting with officials in the integrated district offices complex (IDOC) at Kothagudem, he said people had elected them as their representatives with a lot of hopes. The elected representatives and officials had a responsibility to strive and meet the expectations of people.
Srinivas Reddy directed officials to bring up the issues of people to the notice of MLAs concerned. He directed officials to lay focus on Indiramma houses, drinking water supply, education and health care facilities which must be ensured for the poor. No eligible old-aged, disabled, single women should be denied Aasara pensions.
Underscoring the need to improve road connectivity in rural areas, particularly remote areas in the district, the minister directed officials to take up the repair work of culverts and roads.
Stating that the duty of government employees was to serve people, the minister said was is the responsibility of government employees to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to people.
Drinking water supply is chaotic in villages even though Rs 39,000 crore was spent by the earlier BRS government on Mission Bhagiratha. After coming to power, the Congress government has taken up corrective measures to supply safe drinking water to every house.
He asked officials of the roads and buildings department to bring up matter to the notice of the district collector if forest department officials objected to laying of roads in tribal areas in the district.
Works of Indiramma houses should be completed at the earliest. The government-run schools ‘Amma Adarsha Patashala’ would be developed at par with corporate schools in terms of quality education and facilities. He said construction of new class rooms and development of basic facilities in schools have been taken up by the state government with Rs 650 crore and 80 per cent of these works were complete.
Srinivas Reddy cautioned that stringent action would be taken against officials if they were found involved in irregularities in the Dharani portal. Out of total 2.4 lakh pending applications for the Dharani portal, the state government had processed one lakh before the model code of conduct came into effect. He said the pending applications would be cleared within a week.
Stating that seasonal diseases would break out in agency areas during monsoon, he instructed officials of the health department to make required medicines available at all Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in the district.
