RPF organizes awareness drives and campaigns to end child labour

Hyderabad: In observance of World Day Against Child Labour on June 12, Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Secunderabad Division, in coordination with Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA), Child Help Line, and Government Railway Police (GRP), conducted awareness drives and campaigns across railway stations.

These initiatives aimed to promote the theme “Let’s Act on Our Commitments: End Child Labour!”

A flag march was organized, and awareness campaigns were conducted in railway stations, waiting halls and other railway premises. The event saw active participation from 153 members, including 60 from RPF, 37 from GRP, 32 from other railway branches, and 24 from various NGOs. This united effort emphasized the commitment to eradicate child labour and ensure the safety and well-being of children.

In 2024, under the initiative 'Operation Nanhe Farishte', the RPF Secunderabad division successfully rescued 146 children from railway stations and trains. These children, who were in need of care and protection, were promptly handed over to child helpline authorities.

Additionally, as part of 'Operation Action Against Human Trafficking', RPF has rescued 103 children this year and arrested 44 traffickers, demonstrating their unwavering dedication to combating child trafficking and ensuring the safety of vulnerable children.

The RPF remains committed to the fight against child labour and trafficking, continuing to take proactive measures to safeguard children and raise awareness on these critical issues.
