Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand mourns sniffer dog's death
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand expressed grief after a skilled sniffer dog named Roy, serving with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Hyderabad International Airport passed away on Thursday.
The dog suffered a life-threatening condition known as Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus (GDV), which is popularly known as bloat.
"It was a sad and heavy day for me as we lost Roy to GDV -- a condition where the intestines rotate, trapping gases inside. If not identified early, it can be fatal and that is what happened," Anand wrote on 'X'.
The grieving pet enthusiast revealed that Roy, a German Shepherd, was one of three puppies born to his pet, Hazel.
The Police Commissioner gifted them to the CISF in 2019.
After personally paying his respects to Roy, the commissioner visited Roy’s siblings. "Said hello to the other two still serving Sweetie and Max they looked sad," he wrote.
