Sagar, Srisailam gates closed as inflows fall

Nalgonda, Kurnool: All the gates of the Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar projects were shut on Monday as inflows from upstreams tapered down on Monday. All the Sagar gates had been lifted sequentially from August 6 after the inflow increased to three lakh cusecs from Srisailam project. On Monday, it had fallen to about 46,000 cusecs.

Sagar has water standing at 588 feet as against the full tank level of 590 feet. It has 307 tmc ft, against the gross storage of 312 tmc ft.

The Srisailam project gates were closed though the dam is receiving about 1.18 lakh cusecs of water from Jurala and Sunkesula. Against its full level of 885 feet, water stands at 881.2 feet.
