Hyderabad: A case was registered at the Saifabad police station following a fake GO claiming that a Rangareddy collectorate officer, who was recently arrested by the ACB for accepting a bribe, was being transferred to the vigilance department.
According to Saifabad circle inspector P. Raghuvendra, the case was registered under Sections 318 (4), 336 (3), 340 (2), and 353 (1) of the BNS.
Rangareddy additional collector M.V. Bhoopal Reddy was arrested by ACB officials on August 14 for accepting a bribe of Rs 8 lakh to facilitate removal of 14 guntas of land from the prohibited list on the Dharani portal.
However, a fake GO was circulated that stated that Bhoopal Reddy was being transferred to the vigilance department. This fake order was identified and subsequently, a complaint was registered by section officer Radhakrishna.
