Sajjanar Urges Motorists to Update Contact Details on Vahan Portal

The vehicle owners must immediately register or update their current mobile numbers and email IDs on the Central government’s official Vahan portal: Sajjanar

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has issued a crucial advisory urging all motorists in the city to update their contact details on the Vahan portal.

This measure is aimed at ensuring that vehicle owners receive timely information regarding traffic e-challans and other critical updates directly on their personal devices. The Police Commissioner stated that to facilitate seamless and prompt delivery of traffic violation e-challans and pre-notifications, the department is leveraging SMS, WhatsApp, and email services.

To benefit from this system, vehicle owners must immediately register or update their current mobile numbers and email IDs on the Central government’s official Vahan portal.

Sajjanar explained that in many instances, motorists miss traffic violation alerts due to outdated mobile numbers or incorrect details registered in the system. This lack of communication often leads to delayed payments, resulting in an accumulation of heavy penalties.

By keeping contact details updated, vehicle owners can stay informed in real-time and avoid the burden of unexpected fines.

How to Update Details

Motorists can easily and quickly update their information by visiting the official portal at vahan.parivahan.gov.in or by scanning the official QR code issued by the Police department.

Legally 'Deemed to be Served'

Sajjanar highlighted a vital legal regulation, stating that as per government rules, any e-challan sent to the mobile number or e-mail ID registered on the Vahan portal will be officially 'Deemed to be served' to the vehicle owner.

Consequently, claims of not receiving the notification will not be legally tenable. Therefore, the Police Commissioner has advised all vehicle owners not to be negligent and to update their details on the portal today. He further appealed to the public to strictly adhere to traffic rules and act as responsible citizens.
