SC rejects KTR’s petition seeking urgent hearing
HYDERABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to expedite hearing BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao’s petition challenging the Telangana High Court’s order, which rejected to quash the ACB FIR against him in the alleged `54.88 crore Formula E race scam.
As the High Court was not inclined to give him any protection from arrest for a few days, Rao had approached the apex court within hours of the High Court orders on January 7.
The case was not listed before the Supreme Court bench till now and its registry listed the matter for January 15.
Seeking expeditious hearing of the petition, Rao’s counsel on Thursday tried to make a mention before a bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, requesting that the petition be heard er on Friday.
The Chief Justice declined an urgent hearing and made it clear that the case will come on the day set in the registry. Further, the court also said that there was no urgency to hear the case.
At the same time, the counsel for the Telangana State also objected to Rao counsel’s request and brought to the notice of the court about the caveat filed by the government.
