SC Sub-Categorisation Law Will Be Followed by a Big Recruitment Drive: Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha
At the Madiga Martyrs’ Memorial Meeting, Minister Rajanarsimha honors sacrifices, pledges fair reservations, and announces upcoming legislation.

Hyderabad: Health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha said that the state government had initiated the process of enacting legislation on the sub-categorisation of Scheduled Castes communities for the purpose of reservations. He said the law will be enacted in March, followed by a large-scale recruitment drive for government jobs in which the new reservations for SC sub-castes will be implemented.
Participating at the Madiga Martyrs’ Memorial Meeting held here on Tuesday, the minister said that the struggles for rights should not be politicised and should be approached from a humanitarian perspective.
He pointed out that this humane approach was taken in the matter of SC sub-classification. He credited Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced the government's decision to take steps to implement SC sub-classification in the Assembly within an hour of the Supreme Court's verdict on August 1, 2024. He called Revanth Reddy a leader committed to the welfare of the Madiga community and the rights of the poor.
The minister said that a thorough study was conducted before the one-man judicial commission on SC sub-categorisation submitted its report favouring classification. He advised against spreading misinformation, deceit, or political propaganda against sub-classification.
Rajanarsimha stated that inequalities within the SC communities had led to protests. He highlighted the long struggle for rights and said that tributes were being paid to those who sacrificed their lives in this fight. He stated that the Madiga community remained indebted to the martyr families for their sacrifices. He acknowledged that the debt owed to these martyrs cannot be repaid, no matter how many generations pass.
The minister offered floral tributes to the portraits of the martyrs washed the feet of the families of the Madiga martyrs and honoured them. Financial assistance cheques of Rs 5 lakh each were presented to the families of the martyrs.
Legislators from the Madiga community, including Kale Yadaiah, Vemula Veeresham, Thota Lakshmikant Rao, former ministers Motkupalli Narasimhulu, Dr A Chandrasekhar, AICC secretary A Sampath Kumar, former MP Pasunoori Dayakar and Madiga United Front chairman Medi Papayya attended the event.
