SCR Chief Orders Track Strengthening Amid Heatwave

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway focused on ensuring uninterrupted train operations during prevailing heatwave conditions, at a meeting at its headquarters on summer safety preparedness.
General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava stressed the need for advance planning and directed officials to strengthen tracks to withstand high temperatures and ensure adequate ballast filling wherever required.
He instructed that track patrol staff be sensitised on precautions while working in extreme heat. Officials were also asked to ensure provision of protective gear for gangmen and availability of sufficient drinking water and oral rehydration solutions at worksites. The meeting was attended by principal heads of departments and divisional railway managers of all six divisions.
