Season-Ending Bonalu at Gunfoundry Today
HYDERABAD: Sunday’s Sravanam bonalu at Gunfoundry is considered as the city’s last Bonalu for the season. There are several temples in the region with some dating back to 200 years. The three days of the festival will see activity at Batti Maisamma temple.
Although there will be no Pothu Raju or Ghatam here, other temples in this locality will have both. Palarm Bandi will be taken out from the open ground in front of the temple. It will be made livelier with teen-maar beats and dances.
Nitin Jaiswal, B.N. Srinivas, Shiva and Viney Sai, who are taking out the Palaram Bandi from Batti Maisamma temple, said, “We are all excited. The procession will traverse through the colony.”
Sherunath Misra, in-charge of Durga Bhavani temple, said, “the devotees who lived here and migrated to different places come here to seek mata’s blessings.”
Pallay Jagdev Rao, in-charge of Sri Muthyalamma temple, said that newly-wed couples make it a point to visit the temple and seek the deity’s blessings.
