Second Phase of Integrated Residential Schools to be Launched by CM on Children’s Day

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on Wednesday that the state government will initiate the second phase of the Young India Integrated Residential Schools project on November 14, coinciding with the Children's Day celebrations. Speaking during an interactive meeting with welfare hostel students at the Secretariat, he said that a grand event involving 15,000 students will be organised in Hyderabad, where he will make a formal announcement about the project.

This comes in the wake of the launch of the new initiative on October 11, which aims to establish high-quality residential schools in each of the state’s 119 Assembly constituencies. Endeavoured to serve students from SC, ST, BC and minority communities, this will cost `5,000 crore.

As part of its initial phase, foundation stones for 28 schools were laid with Reddy performing bhumi puja at Kondurg in Shadnagar Assembly constituency.

Each school, designed to support students from Class 4 to Class 12, will be built on 20-25 acres and accommodate up to 2,500 students. The construction of these schools is expected to be completed by the next academic year, expanding access to quality education for underprivileged students across Telangana.

In his address, the Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to bolstering the welfare of students, as seen in the recent increase in diet and cosmetic allowances for welfare hostel students. "The Congress government’s main objective is to provide quality education, healthcare and employment opportunities to all. The secretariat is like the heart of the state administration. I invited students here hoping that they will be so inspired that they will pursue higher education and work as secretariat staff in the future and become partners in the state administration," Reddy said.

Highlighting recent accomplishments in education, CM Revanth mentioned that 21,000 teachers have been promoted and 11,062 teaching positions were recently filled.

He outlined the additional initiatives, including the creation of the Young India Skills University to provide vocational training, and transforming ITIs into Advanced Training Centers (ATCs) in collaboration with Tata Institute, aiming to improve youth employability by enhancing technical skills. He said that Young India Sports University was bein established with a goal to nurture sports talent and increase Telangana’s prospects of winning Olympic medals.

The Chief Minister called upon students to bear social responsibility like reporting about drug trafficking activities that they come across by dialing 100.
