Secunderabad Hosts Wreath Laying for 1971 Indo-Pak War Heroes
Hyderabad: A wreath laying ceremony was organised to recall the sacrifices of the 1971 Indo-Pak war heroes, at the Veerula Sainik Smarak near General K.V. Krishna Rao Parade Ground in Secunderabad. Several war veterans, senior officers from the armed forces, soldiers and students of the Army Public School, participated in the event. The guests and participants offered floral tributes and laid wreaths on the occasion. Air Vice Marshal P.S. Wadodkar, commandant of the College of Air Warfare, was presiding over the event.
The ceremony was a part of the Vijay Diwas or Victory Day, observed on December 16 nationwide, to commemorate India’s victory in the 1971 war that led to the liberation of Bangladesh. The war ended with the signing of the ‘instrument of surrender’ by the eastern army commander of Pakistan.
The interactive session over tea involving tri-service personnel, veterans, and students was also organised as curtain raiser for the upcoming Army Day parade 2025.
