Seethakka slams BRS for blocking growth
Yadadri-Bhongir: Panchayat raj and rural development minister D. Anasuya, popularly known as Seethakka, on Friday accused the opposition BRS of obstructing the state government’s development programmes and welfare schemes.
During the foundation stone laying ceremony for the ₹210 crore Mission Bhagiratha pipeline project at Yadagirigutta, Seethakka alleged that BRS leaders are relying on false propaganda to undermine the Congress government and regain power. She criticised the former BRS administration for neglecting the poor over its 10-year rule, claiming that BRS leaders illegally encroached on land meant for the poor under the Dharani scheme. Specifically, she accused BRS of seizing 20,000 acres in the Ibrahimpatnam Assembly constituency, which were later distributed to the poor and Dalits by the Congress-led Government of India Gandhi. She further stated that BRS is now creating obstacles for land acquisition necessary for industrial setups that could generate employment for the youth.
Seethakka emphasised that the Congress is dedicated to the welfare of the poor, highlighting that elected representatives and citizens can freely meet with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to address their issues without interference.
She announced that Praja Palana celebrations would take place in all gram panchayats on November 26 across the state, with development works soon to commence in these local bodies, backed by a budget of ₹2,750 crore. She urged residents to actively participate in their village’s development.
Addressing past grievances, Seethakka reminded attendees that the previous BRS government had deliberately harassed TGSRTC employees and increased bus fares. In contrast, the current Congress administration has enhanced the public transport system by strengthening TGSRTC services and introducing free travel for women on TGSRTC buses, saving women between ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 who travel to nearby cities for work and business.
Earlier, Seethakka visited the Sri Lakshminarsimha Swamy Temple and participated in the puja ceremony.
The Mission Bhagiratha pipeline aims to provide drinking water to residents of Alair and Bhongir Assembly constituencies by drawing water from the Komaravelli Mallama Sagar reservoir.
Present at the event were minister for roads and buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, minister for agriculture Tummala Nageswara Rao, Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, and government whip Bheerla Ilaiah.
