Set up check posts to prevent illegal transport of cattle: Hyderabad Police Chief
Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner K Sreenivasa Reddy here on Friday convened a coordination meeting with various government departments in connection with ensuing Bakrid.
At the meeting convened at ICCC in Banjara Hills, he discussed the establishment of check posts in and around the city to prevent illegal carriage of cattle without veterinary doctor certificate to transport the cattle and fit for slaughter.
Vehicles illegally carrying cattle should be seized and immediately sent to the cattle holding points or Goshalas prescribed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
He said the public should not take the law into their hands regarding stopping and checking vehicles carrying cattle.
Reddy further requested Animal Husbandry department and GHMC to ensure the availability of veterinary doctors at check posts round-the-clock and municipal officials must depute dog catching squads to inspect localities to catch stray dogs before Bakrid, apart from supplying covers to households for disposal of carcasses.
Special teams for garbage and carcass collection must be deployed on the day of Bakrid and the RTA department must keep sufficient drivers, mechanics and cranes at the strategic and central points.
