Seven-day-old boy stolen from Warangal hospital

Warangal: An make infant, who was born seven days back, was stolen from the Chandrakantaiah Memorial (CKM) Hospital here on Sunday.

According to sub-inspector B. Venkanna, a woman, who was identified as Nirmala alias Sunitha, was introduced to the parents of the boy in Mancherial government hospital when they were tense after the birth of a premature baby.

Taking advantage of their poor economic condition, she assured them of better treatment to the boy and brought them to MGM Hospital on the fifth day. Two days later, she got the boy shifted to the CKM Hospital situated in Deshaipet. After the mother’s admission, she asked the infant’s father to wait outside the hospital. She took the boy and disappeared.

When Nirmala did not return even after 24 hours, the boy’s father lodged a complaint in the police station. The police registered a case and started an investigation.


Financially-troubled traffic constable dies by suicide

A 39-year-old constable of the Gopalapuram traffic police died by suicide in Ghatkesar around 8 am on Sunday. S.N. Javed, DSP (Urban), Secunderabad division, identified the victim as Pothumanchi Narasimha Raju.

“During investigation we found that Raju had taken the extreme step due to family disputes and financial crisis following losses in real estate business,” Javed said.

Narsimha Raju, a 2009 batch constable, was a native of Shankarpally village and residing in Narapally, along with his wife Madhavi and two daughters, the DSP said.
