SHG Signs MoU To Generate Renewable Energy
Nalgonda: Minister for roads and buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Friday encouraged women to achieve financial independence by leveraging various government schemes and programmes.
In the minister's presence, the Aitipamula Self-Help Group (SHG) signed an MoU with Savbag Labs for a pilot project aimed at generating renewable energy in the district. As part of the initiative, Savbag Labs will buy renewable energy produced by the SHG from rooftop solar panels at ₹16 per unit.
Rather than connecting the solar power to the grid, the generated energy will be used to recharge battery units. Savbag Labs will then procure the power for its electric vehicle charging stations.
Venkat Reddy stated that if the pilot project proves successful, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has agreed to scale it across the state. He added that Pratheek Foundation, established in his son's name, will provide Rs 1 lakh to each member of the 50-member Aitipamula SHG. He expressed confidence that each participant could earn Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 per month from the project. The company representatives will install battery units in the women’s homes and collect the recharged batteries for further use.
The minister emphasised that women’s financial self-sufficiency not only empowers them but also fosters the economic growth of their families. He urged women to take full advantage of the state government’s schemes and programs for their development.
District collector Ila Tripathi assured that Savbag Labs would supply the necessary equipment to the Aitipamula SHG and urged the women to make the pilot project a success, potentially setting a model for the entire state.
Savbag Labs managing director Jakkula Satyanarayana highlighted solar energy as a key driver of renewable energy expansion. He noted that since its establishment in 2021, Savbag Labs has been helping women earn income through innovative solutions.
