Sikhs gear up for 358th Prakash Purab in Hyd
Hyderabad:The Sikh community is gearing up to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth and last Sikh Guru and founder of the Khalsa Panth, on Sunday. The 358th Prakash Purab will be observed worldwide, with the city hosting a grand "Vishaal Deewan" (Mass Congregation).
The event, organised by the Prabandhak Committee of Gurdwara Saheb Secunderabad, will take place at Classic Garden, Balanagaram, Secunderabad, from 10 am to 3 pm on January 12. Organisers announced that the Vishaal Deewan will bring together hundreds of Sikh devotees and members of other faith communities for a day of reverence and unity.
The congregation will feature recitations of Gurbani Keertans (Holy Hymns) performed by renowned Ragi Jathas (religious preachers) invited from various parts of the country. Esteemed Ragi Jathas, including Bhai Sarabjeet Singh (Patna Saheb), Bhai Jaskaran Singh (Patiala), Gyani Jagdev Singh, and Bhai Charanjeet Singh, will lead the shabad keertans and kathas, shedding light on the teachings of the Sikh Gurus.
In addition to the spiritual programmes, Guru Ka Langar (free community kitchen) will be served to all devotees. The Guru Ka Langar will provide nutritious meals to attendees.
Reflecting on his legacy, organisers emphasised that Guru Gobind Singh Ji sacrificed his life and family to protect the weak and oppressed, ultimately liberating the country from invaders. His unwavering commitment to justice and righteousness continues to inspire millions.
A Night Kirtan Darbar will also be held at Gurdwara Saheb in Secunderabad on January 11 from 7 pm to 10 pm. During this evening event, the Ragi Jathas will perform shabad kirtans and kathas, followed by Guru Ka Langar, providing a serene and reflective close to the day’s festivities.
