Sircilla Cops Launch Operation Jwala-2 for Girl Students
Karimnagar: In present times, it is very important for girl students and women to learn self-defence for their safety and protection and, the district police department took up the initiative of Operation Jwala to provide training in self-defence to girls studying in government educational institutions, said superintendent of police Akhil Mahajan who launched the second phase of the programme at Mandepally Model School in Thangallapally mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district on Thursday.
The SP said that around 2,000 girl students from various schools and colleges across the district were trained in self-defence in the first phase of the programme last year. Following a good response, the district police decided to start the second phase, Operation Jwala-2.
The training is aimed to empower women and girls with techniques and skills in self-defence which not only helps them face miscreants and chain snatchers but also handle harmful situations courageously to protect themselves from assaults, he said.
Stating that the Telangana police were working hard for the safety and protection of girl students and women in the state, Akhil Mahajan said the women police personnel of She Teams in plain clothes were patrolling crowded places and bus stands to protect women. He urged girls and women to report harassment or eve-teasing to She Teams or Dial 100.
ASP Sheshadrini Reddy, Additional SP Chandraiah, DSP Chandrasekhar Reddy, CI Mogili SI Sudhakar and school staff were present.
