Sitaram Yechury’s demise irreparable loss for Left party: CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said the demise of CPM national leader Sitaram Yechury is an irreparable loss for the Left party at a time when the BJP was planning to conduct one nation one elections.

“Sitaram ignited the spirit of democracy in the national politics and also stood by the poor by raising their voice on all political platforms in the country. The departed CPM leader also spread the glory of the country on all democratic platforms in the world,” he said at the memorial meeting honouring Sitaram Yechuri organized at Ravindra Bharathi here.

“Sitaram and departed Congress leader S Jaipal Reddy were highly respected national leaders. I used to remember the CPM national leader whenever I met Jaipal Reddy. The two leaders are contemporary in national politics,” he said.

‘Sitaram adhered to his party ideology till he breathed his last. The left party leader fought for the cause of the poor all through his life. The family members' decision to donate the mortal remains to the hospital is highly commendable,” Revanth Reddy said.

According to him, Sitaram played an active role in supporting important bills for the welfare of the poor during the UPA rule. AICC leader Rahul Gandhi considered Sitaram as his mentor. The demise of the national leader left a void which cannot be filled in the crucial times of safeguarding the States interests. “It is very sad that Sitaram is not among us to give direction to the country in critical times. People like Sitaram are few and far between,” he said.

“Sitaram played an important role in the active politics from his student days in the country. With the inspiration of Sitaram, we should move forward in the fight against One Nation One Election,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence is proof of his fascist policies when a Union Minister made controversial comments against Rahul Gandhi. Condemnable for not controlling such foul language in the highly respected democratic country, he added.
