Skills Must Go Beyond Degrees: UoH VC

Hyderabad: Students can unlock global opportunities only by acquiring the right skills alongside their degrees, stated University of Hyderabad vice-chancellor Prof. Basuthkar Jagadeeshwar Rao at the 3rd convocation of Nizam College at the Ravindra Bharathi Auditorium on Wednesday. “The sky is the limit,” he said, urging graduates to strive for higher aspirations through hard work and continuous learning. A total of 49 students were honoured with gold medals for achieving top marks in undergraduate courses, with 80% of the recipients being female. Additionally, degrees were conferred on 520 students across disciplines such as BSc, BA, BCom, BBA, and BCA.

Osmania University vice-chancellor Prof. Molugaram Kumar, who presided over the session, encouraged them to contribute to social change and the nation’s development. Prof. Kumar also acknowledged Nizam College’s key contributions in various fields. He assured them that increased hostel accommodation and other necessary facilities would be provided from the next academic year to support the rising number of female students at Nizam College and Osmania University.

Nizam College principal Prof. B. Bhima noted that many graduates from the college have secured seats in prestigious institutions like the IITs and central universities for their postgraduate studies. He said that the college was striving to introduce courses aligned with market demands and presented a detailed progress report, which showcased the college’s commitment to excellence.
