SKM to Hold Public Meet on Tenant Farmers' Issues in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Members of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) will hold a public hearing and dharna at the Indira Park, wherein the farmer leaders will highlight the problems being faced by 22 lakh tenant farmers in Telangana. The Morcha leaders also reminded the Congress government about the promises that it made for the welfare of tenant farmers in the Warangal Declaration.

In a press statement issued by the Morcha leaders, they said, “The Congress party had promised to implement all the schemes for the tenant farmers. We have asked farmers belonging to different districts to attend the meeting, in large numbers, and air their grievances before the jury members. The jury members comprising prominent individuals will give their verdict post the hearing.”

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the farmer leaders recalled, had shot off an open letter to the tenant farmers as TPCC president, promising to implement the Land Licensed Cultivators Act, 2011. As per this, they were supposed to get identity cards, rythu bharosa, crop loans and other benefits.

Several farmer leaders and workers are expected to address the gathering, stated the press release.
