KARIMNAGAR: A temple has been established for Congress leader Sonia Gandhi to show the state’s gratitude for giving statehood to Telangana.
The temple in white marble was set up by party district general secretary Nevuri Venkat Reddy and his wife Yellareddypet Mamatha, a former sarpanch.
The temple at Saibaba Kaman in Yellareddypet of Rajanna Sircilla district was inaugurated by TPCC member Nagula Satyanarayana on Telangana Formation Day on Sunday.
Venkat Reddy said that when Sonia Gandhi had announced statehood for Telangana and fulfilled the dreams of around four and a half crore people, he had resolved to construct a temple for her.
He said he faced a lot of problems to complete the construction of the temple as the BRS formed government after bifurcation and its leaders created many hurdles for him.
But with the Congress forming government in the state after the victory in the Assembly polls last year, he was able to complete the construction successfully and was happy to inaugurate it on Telangana Formation Day.
“Without Soniamma, the dream of achieving a separate Telangana state would not have been possible. It is our turn to worship her for making our dream come true,” Venkat Reddy added.
