Srisailam and Sunkesula Reservoirs Near Capacity Following Heavy Rains

Kurnool: Heavy rain lashing Karnataka and Kurnool district in AP has led to a surge in water levels at the Srisailam and Sunkesula reservoirs. According to the latest reports, the Srisailam reservoir has accumulated 35.98 tmc ft of flood water against its total capacity of 215 tmc ft. The water level stood at 812.80 feet, against its full level of 885 feet.

The Srisailam dam received 6,560 cusecs on Monday and the Sunkesula barrage received 6,700 cusecs primarily from the Tungabhadra River and local sources. Officials released 6,563 cusecs of water from the Sunkesula dam into the Tungabhadra, which joins the Srisailam reservoir.

The Sunkesula reservoir currently 1.068 tmc ft of flood water against its total capacity of 1.2 tmc ft.
