St Paul’s school’s 1975 batch marks golden jubilee

Hyderabad: St Paul’s High School in Hyderguda celebrated the golden jubilee of its 1975 batch on Republic Day, marking 50 years since the batch graduated.

The event took place at the school’s premises and was part of the school’s annual alumni meet, which is a much-awaited gathering for former students. The event was extra special this year as the Batch of 1975, who were the sponsors of the celebrations.
For Vivekananda, meeting his old classmates felt like stepping into a time machine. “At first, we couldn’t even recognise each other,” he said with a hearty laugh. “Back in school, we would drag our feet during the morning hours but at the last bell, we lived for that moment!”
The heartfelt part of the evening came when Vivekananda’s daughter, Malvika Anand, a singer, stepped on stage to dedicate a heartfelt performance to her father and his batchmates. She sang timeless friendship songs, with the audience singing along and clapping in rhythm.
For some, the journey to the reunion was as emotional as the event itself. K. Sunil, who flew in from abroad, almost didn’t make it. “My trip to India was nearly cancelled, but I couldn’t miss this for anything,” he said.
Sunil shared a memory, “Our batch wasn’t scheduled for a send-off party, so I took it upon myself to collect `5 from every student and organise the one. We ended up having one more send-off party later.”
Teachers who had shaped the lives of the students were also honoured during the event.
A backbencher recounted how teachers would hit chalk pieces at anyone caught whispering while they wrote on the blackboard.
The most emotional moment of the day came when 94-year-old Krishnamurthy Sir, their beloved teacher, arrived at the celebration. Overwhelmed to see his students after decades, he said in a voice trembling with emotion: “It’s hard to connect these accomplished individuals with the mischievous children I once taught.”
Known for his strict teaching style, he reflected on how it shaped his students’ lives. “I would repeat the same lecture daily until every student understood it. My strictness may have been tough, but it made them who they are today,” he said proudly.
