Telangana State gets ECI’s go-ahead for state formation day celebrations
Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has allowed the state government to celebrate the Telangana Formation Day on June 2. Following the clearance, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari reviewed arrangements for the celebrations.
As the model code of conduct (MCC) is in force till June 5, the state government had written to the ECI seeking permission to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the state’s formation.
The Chief Secretary said the celebrations will be held at Parade Ground in Secunderabad. Prior to that, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy would pay tributes to the statehood agitation martyrs at the Telangana Amaraveerula Stupam at Gun Park.
She directed the police department to prepare traffic route maps, assigning alighting and pickup points and parking places.
The officers were also told to regulate the movement of dignitaries by designating pick-up points to ensure smooth and timely departure to avoid unnecessary delay at the time of leaving the venue. R&B department officials were directed to provide barricading and arrange tents to ensure that people are not exposed to sun.
GHMC officials were told to arrange cleaning, levelling, watering, maintenance of sanitary and hygienic conditions and arrange decorative flags.
Shanti Kumari directed the cultural department to ensure participation of artists to create an atmosphere of a carnival. The energy department was told to provide three-phase power supply and to ensure uninterrupted power supply at the venue.
