Hyderabad:The state government has mobilised ₹300 crore to extend immediate financial assistance of ₹10,000 to each household affected by the recent heavy rain ana floods and ₹10,000 per acre for crop damage to farmers. The amount will be credited directly into the bank accounts of affected families and farmers from Friday.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had announced compensation of ₹5 lakh to the family members of each of those who lost their lives, ₹50,000 for loss of livestock, ₹5,000 for loss of sheep and goat, ₹10,000 per acre for crop damage and immediate financial assistance of ₹10,000 to those whose houses were damaged in flooding when he visited rain-affected districts of undivided Khammam and Warangal districts.
Flood damage was also reported from combined Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar districts.
The government directed collectors of respective districts to conduct a survey to determine the affected-households, farmers and submit a list to extend compensation. The government received reports from collectors on Thursday following which it has decided to extend the compensation in phases from Friday. The government will allocate more funds to cover all the affected families and farmers.
As per preliminary estimates, 44 houses have been destroyed, while 600 have suffered partial damage. Floods have affected about 67,000 people in 117 villages. The government set up 133 rehabilitation centres, accommodating over 10,500 people displaced by the floods. In Khammam district alone, 49,000 people were ffected.
