Student Bodies Protest at Kishan Reddy's House, Press for Cancellation of NEET Exam

Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed at the residence of Union minister G. Kishan Reddy when members from various students’ unions, affiliated to Left parties and Congress, staged a strong protest if front of the house when they were not allowed to meet him to submit their representation demanding cancellation of NEET.

In the melee that transpired AISF Telangana secretary Putta Laxman sustained a fracture to his left leg.

Protesters raised slogans denouncing the attitude of the Central government on the NEET issue. They appealed to the minister to use his good offices and ensure that the test is re-conducted in the larger interest of thousands of innocent students. They wanted an apology from the Centre as the fate of 24 lakh students, who had appeared for the exam, was at stake.

Students affiliated to AISF, SFI, NSUI, PDSU, Vidhyarthi Jana Samithi (VJS), All India Youth Federation (AIYF), Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC), Youth Justice Society (YJS) and Progressive Youth League (PYL), among others, took part in the protest. Interacting with media persons, Congress MLC Balmoori Venkat, who was also present on the occasion on behalf of NSUI, urged the minister to persuade Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cancel the exam.
