Students Celebrate National Science Day at Rashtrapati Nilayam

Hyderabad: Over 5,000 students from schools and colleges gathered at Rashtrapati Nilayam here for the concluding day of the two-day National Science Day on Friday. The event featured science talks, competitions, and performances to inspire young minds.

ISRO scientist T. Shafali Tandon spoke about India's space missions, including Mangalyaan and Gaganyaan, and how satellites support disaster management and communication. Budha Srinivas from Jana Vignana Vedika highlighted how AI tools like ChatGPT make science accessible.

Sowjanya Suraj, co-founder of Next Skills 360, introduced an affordable cardboard kit for coding, benefiting 2.5 million students in rural areas.

Competitions like poster making, quizzes, and a science model exhibition saw participation from 120 schools, with 25 students receiving awards. A skit on environmental pollution by Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Telangana Backward Classes Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society School for Boys, Medchal, raised awareness on nature conservation.

Entrepreneur Jakkampudi Aadisheshaiah Chowdary discussed quantum computing and the role of technology in nation-building. Biochemist Dr M.S. Mahtab S. Bamji was honoured for contributions to nutritional science.

At the Tara Home in Old Bowenpally, science took centrestage as 800 children from various child care institutions and disabled child care institutions participated in a science fair.

Organised by the women development and child welfare department, the event focused to nurture scientific curiosity and innovation among children aged six to eighteen, who presented various science projects and experiments.

Hyderabad collector Anudeep Durishetty inaugurated the exhibition and assured government support for those excelling in science and mathematics.

District Legal Services Authority Secretary Abdul Javed highlighted the free legal aid provided to child care institutions. Gangaram, chairman of Friendly Environment for the Disabled, praised the participation of children with disabilities.

In another event marking National Science Day, the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB) hosted a lecture, ‘One Health: The close interconnection of public health and urban governance’. GHMC commissioner Dr K. Ilambarithi speaking at the event underscoring the importance of integrating human, animal, and environmental health in urban planning.
