Hyderabad: A couple from Bhuvanagiri district who underwent In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) treatment at the Gandhi IVF Center gave birth to a healthy 4 kg baby boy on Wednesday. Telangana Minister for Health, Medical & Family Welfare Damodara Raja Narasimha shared the success story on X on Thursday, highlighting the success of the treatment at the state-run facility.

Ravi and Sowmya, from Bhuvanagiri district, had been married for nine years. Sowmya was unable to conceive and sought treatment at various private fertility centers. Despite undergoing procedures such as OI and IUI approximately 12 times, they did not achieve a successful outcome.

Last year, Ravi and Sowmya approached the IVF Center at Gandhi Hospital. After identifying the issue, doctors proceeded with IVF treatment. Prof Shobha, head of the gynecology department and in-charge superintendent, and Dr. Fatima Rani stated that the pregnancy was successfully achieved in the very first IVF attempt.

They explained that all services, from the initial IVF procedure to antenatal check-ups and medication, were provided to the couple completely free of cost at Gandhi Hospital. On the 27th of this month, Sowmya gave birth to a healthy baby boy at Gandhi Hospital. The doctors confirmed that both the baby and the mother are in perfect health.

The Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad has successfully delivered multiple babies since its inception in 2023. The facility spans 4,300 square feet and features sterile zones, an Embryo Laboratory, an Andrology Laboratory, and counseling rooms.

Superintendent Dr. Vani noted that while Sowmya and Ravi had spent lakhs of rupees at private hospitals, they received their entire course of treatment at Gandhi Hospital completely free of charge.
