Surveys to identify beneficiaries for Rythu Bharosa begin today

Hyderabad:The state government will begin extensive surveys on Thursday to identify agricultural lands, non-agricultural lands, and landless agricultural families as part of its initiative to extend the Rythu Bharosa scheme from January 26.

Joint teams comprising staff from the revenue and agriculture departments will conduct the surveys for six days — from January 16 to 21. The verification process for identifying beneficiaries for new ration cards and the Indiramma Housing Scheme will also be carried out simultaneously.

After the survey, gram sabhas will be convened from January 21 to display the findings and preliminary beneficiary lists. People will be invited to raise objections during these meetings. Officials will address genuine grievances, rectify any errors, and finalise the beneficiary lists accordingly.

Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari, during a teleconference with district collectors on Wednesday, stressed the importance of accuracy and fairness in beneficiary selection.

She directed district collectors to ensure that all four schemes — Rythu Bharosa to extend `15,000 per acre per year to farmers owning agriculture lands, Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa of `12,000 per year to landless agricultural families, new ration cards, and Indiramma Housing — are implemented effectively and transparently. The state government has set January 26 as the launch date for these schemes.

The Chief Secretary instructed the officials to conduct the joint field visits to identify uncultivable lands and ensure accurate data display during gram sabhas for approval to extend Rythu Bharosa.

For the Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa scheme, the beneficiaries, particularly landless agricultural labourers, who have worked for at least 20 days under the National Employment Guarantee Scheme in 2023-24, should be identified and their details approved in gram sabhas.

For ration cards and Indiramma houses, the draft lists of beneficiaries must be displayed at villages and urban wards, adhering to government guidelines. The lists will then be finalised after public scrutiny and objections.

In urban areas, including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) jurisdiction, officials have been instructed to prioritise accurate data entry and thorough field verification due to the high number of beneficiaries.

Santhi Kumari commended district collectors for their groundwork, including forming special teams, preparing draft lists, and arranging data entry systems. She urged secretaries of relevant departments to closely monitor the implementation process to avoid errors and ensure only deserving beneficiaries receive assistance.

The teleconference was attended by principal secretary for revenue Navin Mittal, principal secretary (civil supplies) D.S. Chauhan, agriculture secretary M. Raghunandan Rao, housing secretary Buddha Prakash, panchayati raj secretary Lokesh Kumar, district collectors, the GHMC Commissioner, and other senior officials.
