Suspended ASP M Thirupatanna Key Accused in Phone Tapping Case
HYDERABAD: The Telangana police on Thursday informed the Supreme Court that the suspended additional superintendent of police M. Thirupatanna was the key accused in the phone-tapping case. He played a major role in tapping phones of political leaders, journalists and celebrities when the BRS was in power, they said.
The apex court on Thursday heard arguments on the bail petition filed by Thirupatanna. During the arguments, his counsel argued that his client had the liberty to get bail after the investigation officer had filed a charge sheet before the court.
Opposing the respondent's arguments, the state police informed the court that Thirupatanna had even indulged in tapping phones of High Court judges and their family members.
After hearing the arguments from both counsels, the apex court asked the police to file a report on the status of investigation in connection with the case.
