Tackle Cybercrime Threats, Minister Tells Newly-Inducted Officers

Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home Nityanand Rai on Friday urged IPS officer trainees to tackle the emerging threat of cybercrimes with technical expertise.

He said the Centre had set up a technical mission, cyber forensic labs among others. Rai noted that Union home minister Amit Shah had said that technology would have an important role in managing internal security in the future.

He was speaking after taking salute at the passing out parade of the 76th batch of regular recruits (RR) at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) on the city outskirts on Friday

The campus was decked up to celebrate the achievements of the new officers, in the presence of their parents. Emotions ran high as the officers embraced their families, tears of joy and pride evident as they celebrated this significant milestone.

The atmosphere turned electric with Achyuth Ashok, the topper who is from the Kerala cadre, leading the parade with poise and distinction.

The minister said, “It’s now their turn to remain vigilant against terrorism and anti-social elements and stay proactive in policing. One should also stay updated with technology in this digital age, as it plays a crucial role in modern society. With the increasing threat of cybercrime, there should also be efforts to combat these challenges and the swift resolution of cases through cyber forensic labs.”

Rai reiterated the importance of holding criminals accountable and ensuring that the victims or their families get justice. “Always stay two steps ahead of criminals and to have a thorough understanding of new criminal laws,” the minister said.

He stressed that it was not just about apprehending criminals and presenting them in court, but also about understanding where the crime occurred and addressing the root causes. Additionally, he stressed the importance of ensuring peace and harmony under their leadership, encouraging them to remain approachable to the public.
