Teacher Associations Unite to Block GO 25

Hyderabad: Teachers' unions united in their condemnation of Government Order (GO) 25, which they said mandated an irrational rationalisation process in government schools. The United State Primary School Teachers' Union (USPSC) criticised the school education directorate for instructing collectors to implement the “unscientific process.”

United Teachers Federation (UTF) said that the directive to allot only two teachers to schools with either 11 or 60 students is unreasonable. They argued that every classroom should have a dedicated teacher. They demanded the immediate revocation of this policy and proposed a minimum of two teachers in each primary school, with an additional teacher for every 20 students.

The union expressed concerns over the adherence to guidelines during recent Secondary Grade Teacher transfers. They alleged that the rules were not followed, resulting in arbitrary transfers. The USPSC urged the government to resolve these irregularities and demanded that all SGT teachers transferred through the rationalisation process be immediately relieved.

The Telangana United Teachers’ Federation (TSUTF) has voiced its discontent with the Centre’s government's ambiguous policies regarding the new education policy (NEP) and the New Pension Scheme (NPS).

Addressing a state committee meeting, TSUTF president K. Jangaiah and MLC Alugubelli Narsireddy called for the immediate implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and an increase in funding for primary education.

The TSUTF also raised concerns about the unresolved issues surrounding teacher transfers and promotions. Despite the conclusion of the process 80 days ago, several appeals remain pending. Teachers affected by administrative errors, technical glitches, and lack of communication during the transfer process are still awaiting resolutions to their appeals.

The TSUTF urged the school education department to address these appeals promptly and take strict action against any officials responsible for irregularities.

In a series of resolutions passed during the meeting, the TSUTF demanded the immediate release of pending Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears and the implementation of the PRC recommendations. They also called for the appointment of headteachers in all primary schools to relieve teachers of non-teaching duties and ensure effective school management.

The unions also demanded that the state government revise the time management system in Gurukul schools and regularise Model Schools under government purview, ensuring fair treatment of teachers employed there. The TSUTF further insisted that primary school teachers be granted voting rights in the upcoming MLC elections and advocated for additional posts in pre-primary schools to prevent the privatisation of the pre-primary education sector.
