Teachers to Be Involved in Caste Census: Bhatti
Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday said that the state government has decided to make teachers partners in its historical caste census exercise.
Along with ministers D. Sridhar Babu and Ponnam Prabhakar, Vikramarka met representatives of teachers associations and sought their opinions at the Secretariat here on Wednesday.
He explained the importance of the survey and the views of the state government.
“Like Rahul Gandhi, we all had made it clear that Indiramma Rajyam would be back. The country’s resources should belong to all people equally. In keeping with our electoral promises, the Congress government has decided to take up caste census,” he said.
Vikramarka said that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the entire Cabinet decided to involve teachers in this prestigious programme. He said that they wanted to take the opinion of teachers as regards their involvement in the exercise as they have a societal responsibility and belong to a socially-conscious segment.
Vikramarka said that the survey, to be conducted in the morning hours, would be taken up during consecutive holidays from November 9 to 15. Compensatory leave would be given to teachers, who participate in the survey during holidays.
