Telangana BJP Forms Panels in 24,000 Booths

Hyderabad: With over 40 lakh membership, the Telangana BJP is carryout out its Sangathan Parv – Sadasyata Abhiyan aggressively. It has formed 24,000 booth committees of 36,000 planned in the state. This is likely to help the party get rid of the tag that it is urban centric party and help in consolidating its position at the ground level in the state from the rich gains it made in the last Lok Sabha elections.

Party’s membership drive incharge N. Ramchander Rao told the Deccan Chronicle that the party did not expect such a strong response from the public. He pointed out that as against the target to form 35,000 active members, the party had formed 38,000 active members. In order to become an active member, one has to enrol at least 25 primary members.

Besides party’s state unit president G. Kishan Reddy, the party’s national general secretary and state unit incharge Sunil Bansal, party’s organisational secretary Chandrasekhar have been taking prime focus on strengthening the party at the grass root level by holding the regular meeting with the party leaders in the districts.

Claiming that more than 50 per cent mandals in the state have been covered with party units, Ramchander Rao said that the party has formed committees in 500 out of 953 mandals in the state and expected to cross 700 mandals in next three days. The party wants to complete the process of forming committees for all the mandals and districts by January 15.

The election committee of the party will take opinions from all district leaders to nominate five names and one out of them would be announced as the district president. Those who already served as district president for two terms will not be considered, said Ramchander Rao.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has significantly improved its performance in the State compared to the 2019 elections. The party garnered 35.08 per cent vote share as against 19.65 per cent of the vote share it got in 2019.
