Telangana Braces for Heavy Rains
Hyderabad: One person was injured when a portion of the historic kaman at Dewan Dewdi, Madina, collapsed on him on Friday. The 150-year-old arch, which was part of the majestic gateway to the once-grand Dewdi, has been in a dilapidated state for years.
Elsewhere, the IMD issued a yellow alert for several districts, warning of heavy rainfall over the next few days due to a developing low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. From September 7 to 9, many areas are expected to experience heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
The districts likely to be most affected include Adilabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Warangal, and Hanamkonda. In addition, more severe rainfall is anticipated in these regions on Sunday, accompanied by winds gusting to nearly 40kmph. The IMD has advised residents to prepare for possible disruptions and take necessary precautions.
On Saturday, extremely heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanamkonda. These districts are likely to witness intense weather, with thunderstorms and high wind speeds adding to the challenges. The forecast predicts similar weather patterns continuing into Monday, September 9, with thunderstorms and winds between 30 to 40 km/h persisting across several areas.
By the end of the weekend, heavy rains are expected to extend to more districts, including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagitial, Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy. Residents of these districts have been advised to remain alert and take precautions as adverse weather conditions are expected to impact daily life.
