Hyderabad: Minister for IT Sridhar Babu on Tuesday launched the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) department’s initiative, BuildNow, a unified online building and layout approval system.
The system, powered by artificial intelligence and technical advancements, promises to transform the building approval process in Telangana.
“BuildNow represents a significant leap forward in citizen-centric governance, reducing approval times from weeks to minutes,” he said, during the announcement of the new system. BuildNow is poised to transform how citizens and builders navigate construction approvals, making processes faster, reliable, and transparent.
Developed as India’s fastest drawing scrutiny system, BuildNow incorporates cutting-edge technologies, including AI-powered tools, blockchain integration, and augmented reality, to provide instant processing and greater accountability.
Under the traditional TG bPASS system, scrutiny took two to 30 days; BuildNow cuts this time to under five minutes. In one instance, a multi-storied building with 40+ floors was processed in less than two minutes.
The system’s unified portal eliminates the need to navigate multiple platforms for submission, tracking, and payments, streamlining the process.
Builders and citizens can now visualise projects using augmented reality, experiencing interactive 3D models of proposed constructions. Blockchain ensures transparent application tracking, while AI assistants provide personalised guidance and instant rule clarifications.
The initiative also integrates GIS and RERA data, enabling faster compliance checks for non-high-rise buildings and improving efficiency in certificate issuance.
The Telangana government plans to conduct training sessions for architects, government officers, and residents ahead of BuildNow’s full launch on February 1, 2025.
“BuildNow is more than a technological upgrade, it redefines building approvals, ensuring citizen satisfaction and efficiency,” the official note explained.
