Hyderabad: The state Cabinet at its meeting chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy approved the transfer of Godavari water from the Mallannasagar reservoir to Shamirpet tank and onwards to Hyderabad's twin reservoirs of Osmansagar and Himayatsagar.
This measure is meant to boost the city’s drinking water requirements
Approximately, 15 tmc ft of water will be moved. Of this quantity, 10 tmc ft is earmarked for filling lakes in the city peripheral areas and the remaining five tmc ft reserved for the city's drinking water needs.
