Telangana: CID To Probe Medipally Child Trafficking Case
Hyderabad: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) has taken over investigation of the entire child trafficking racket after a case was busted by the Rachakonda police.
Being a nodal agency, CID will thoroughly probe the interstate human trafficking mafia, which is controlled by professional criminals, who move their base from one state to another.
It must be recalled that kingpin of the Medipally child trafficking case is yet to be arrested, a senior police officer told Deccan Chronicle.
Medipally police had busted the child trafficking case in coordination of Akshara Jyoti NGO on May 21. They rescued a toddler and arrested a 48-year-old nurse Aita Shoba Rani red-handed when she was about to sell the two-month-old girl to a childless couple in Peerzadiguda.
It was subsequently revealed that 15 childless couples are victims as the notorious traffickers cheated them while stating that all legal adoption formalities were being followed, a police officer said.
Out of the 11 couples, nine approached the court and got permission to take custody of the children. Since May 21, police have rescued 26 babies but not even a single biological parent has come to claim them.
