Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that he would embark on comprehensive district tours from May 1 to June 2, to interact with the public and highlight the Congress government’s achievements over the past 16 months.
“If we want to win the next Assembly elections, we must start engaging with the people now. All our good work will mean nothing if it doesn’t reach them,” he said.
Addressing the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting here, the Chief Minister directed party MLAs to hold intensive grassroots outreach in their respective Assembly constituencies from April 16 to June 2. MLAs have been asked to visit every village and educate people on Congress government's schemes and achievements, including the SC sub-categorisation, sanna biyyam and Indiramma Indlu schemes and the Bhu Bharati land portal.
Revanth Reddy said that the responsibility lay with all elected representatives to inform citizens about the Congress government's key initiatives and decisions. “It is important to do good work, but making sure people know about it is equally crucial,” he added.
Revanth Reddy announced that he would personally participate in public outreach during his tour from May 1 to June 2. Additionally, he instructed MLAs to prepare detailed reports on the developmental needs of their assembly constituencies, assuring that the government will take responsibility for completing those projects.
He called the 'sanna biyyam' distribution scheme a landmark welfare initiative, comparing its long-term impact to the `2 per kg rice scheme introduced by then Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao. He urged party leaders to ensure that the benefits of this and other schemes reach every eligible citizen.
Highlighting the Indiramma housing scheme, Revanth Reddy called it a "role model for the nation" and stressed the need to identify genuine beneficiaries to ensure the houses are allotted to deserving poor families.
He also pointed to the Congress government’s landmark decisions, including conducting a caste census to resolve a century-old issue and enacting legislation to provide 42 per cent reservation for weaker sections in education, employment, and political representation. "This reflects our commitment to transparent and inclusive governance," he said.
On the issue of SC sub-categorisation, the Chief Minister said that the government had intentionally delayed fresh job notifications from August 2024 until SC sub-categorisation bill is passed in the Legislative Assembly, showcasing its commitment to social justice.
