Telangana CM Revanth briefs Kharge on loan waiver
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi on Friday for nearly one-and-a-half hours, in the presence of the IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu.
According to party sources, the CM briefed Kharge on the latest political situation in Telangana. They discussed the successful implementation of the `2 lakh crop loan waiver scheme, fulfilling a major poll promise made by the Congress during the Assembly elections. The scheme was rolled out and implemented in less than a month, between July 18 and August 15.
Another important point of discussion was a proposal to hold a farmers' rally in Warangal with the participation of AICC leader Rahul Gandhi to celebrate the successful implementation of the crop loan waiver scheme.
Sources revealed that Revanth Reddy also discussed issues related to the Cabinet expansion, appointment of a TPCC president to replace him and the filling of nominated posts. No decisions were made on these matters during the meeting. Kharge assured the Chief Minister that a meeting would be convened with AICC leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi soon to finalise these issues.
Revanth Reddy's meetings with the Gandhis could not take place on Friday due to their prior commitments, sources said. After the meeting with Kharge, the Chief Minister returned to Hyderabad at night.
